Plain English, no fine print: here's exactly how we make money and how our links work.

By Stephen V., Home-gym enthusiastLast updated July 22, 2026How we pick

The short version

Barbell & Bench earns a commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. That commission is the only way the site makes money. We only earn if you decide to buy — never for simply recommending a product.

Amazon Associates

Barbell & Bench is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click one of our product links and buy, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. Your price is exactly the same whether you use our link or not.

How our links work

To keep our links tidy and to measure which recommendations are useful, product links route through our own /goredirect before sending you to the retailer. It’s the same destination — the product page on Amazon — just with our affiliate tag attached. Buy buttons are marked as sponsored links, per Google’s guidelines.

Editorial independence

Our recommendations are not for sale. We choose products based on the criteria in our methodology — price, beginner-friendliness, and space fit — not on which one pays the most commission. Where a cheaper option is the better buy, we recommend the cheaper option, even when it earns us less. We accept no payment for placement and no free products in exchange for coverage.

Prices

All prices shown on this site are pulled live from Amazon and stamped with the date they were verified. Prices change frequently; the price at checkout is always the one that applies. If we can’t verify a current price, we show “Check price on Amazon” rather than a number that might be out of date.
